I am Nando Leira, a Chicago based visual artist and photographer. I am originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I graduated from college with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts.
Some of my experience in the past includes traditional animation short movies using 35mm film. I also took part in art restoration projects of churches, paintings, photographs and paper, at cultural institutes in Brazil.
After college I lived for one year in Brighton, England, where I first had the idea to create the Graphiconstruk project. It all started with several sketchbooks I used to carry around, and then they became a series of acrylic paintings.
In BrazilĀ I also worked as an art teacher for kids living in underprivileged areas and favelas in Copacabana and Ipanema.
Throughout the years I have been developing the Graphiconstruk project. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to work in several areas and experience different techniques to create my artwork.
